Corona Virus and Smoking

As you probably have heard there is a new virus COVID-19. CNN states that it "specifically targets older adults and people with serious underlying medical conditions. They labeled this group as "higher risk." Smoking raises the possibilities of getting COVID-19. It raises enzymes and that allows the corona virus to enter the lung cells.
"When someone's lungs are exposed to flu or other infections the adverse effects of smoking or vaping are much more serious than among people who do not smoke or vape," Stanton Glantz
ARDS (Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome) is a progressive disease that can occur in critically ill patients, most notably now in those diagnosed with severe illness resulting from corona virus. JAMA Internal Medicine suggests that more than 40% of individuals in the study hospitalized for severe and critical COVID-19 developed ARDS and over 50% of those diagnosed died from the disease.
